जंगल का भूत (ghost of the forest)

एक घना जंगल था उस जंगल के बीच से एक रास्ता निकलता था । ये रास्ता एक गांव से दूसरे गांव की ओर जाता था।

There was a dense forest, a path came out through the middle of that forest.  This road used to lead from one village to another.

जंगल इतना ज्यादा घना और भयानक था कि लोग जिनको जंगल के रास्ते कहीं आना जाना हो या कोई और भी काम हो तो दिन में ही कर लिया करते थे। एक दिन एक आदमी जो किसी काम से जंगल के रास्ते दूसरे गांव गया हुवा था लेकिन वापस लौटने में उसे देर हो गयी जब वह वापस लौटा तो रात होने लगी । वह आदमी जंगल में कुछ ही दूरी पर आया था कि उसे एक चार या पांच साल का लड़का मिला जो रो रहा था।

The forest was so dense and terrible that people who had to go somewhere through the forest or have any other work, used to do it during the day itself.  One day a man who had gone to another village through the forest for some work, but he was late in returning, when he returned, it was night.  The man had come some distance in the forest when he found a boy of four or five years who was crying.

उस व्यक्ति ने उस लड़के से पूंछा बेटा तुम क्यों रो रहे हो, तुम्हारे माँ बाप कहाँ हैं, तुम इस जंगल में क्या कर रहे हो ।

वह लड़का कुछ नहीं बोला बस रोता रहा। उस व्यक्ति ने इधर उधर नजर घुमा कर देखा उसे कोई दिखाई नहीं दिया तो उस व्यक्ति ने बच्चे को उठा कर अपने कंधे पर बैठा लिया और अपने गांव की ओर चल पड़ा।

The person asked the boy why are you crying son, where are your parents, what are you doing in this forest.

 The boy didn't say anything, just kept on crying.  The person looked around and saw no one, so that person lifted the child and made him sit on his shoulder and went towards his village.

वह व्यक्ति जैसे जैसे अपने गांव की तरफ बढ़ रहा था वैसे वैसे रात भी गहरी होती जा रही थी। और उस व्यक्ति को ये भी लग रहा था कि जैसे उस बच्चे का वजन भी बढ़ रहा है।

As the person was moving towards his village, the night was getting darker as well.  And that person also felt that as the weight of that child is also increasing.

उस बच्चे का पैर जो थोड़ी देर पहले जो कंधों से कुछ ही निचे तक लटक रहा था वह अब कमर तक पहुंच चुका था। जैसे जैसे वह व्यक्ति आगे की ओर बढ़ रहा था वैसे वैसे उस बच्चे का पैर लम्बा होता जा रहा था। 

अब उस व्यक्ति को मालूम हो गया था कि जिस बच्चे को वह अपने कंधे पर बैठा रखा था वह कोई आम बच्चा नहीं बल्कि कोई भूत है।

The leg of that child, which was hanging just below the shoulders a little while ago, had now reached the waist.  As the person was moving forward, the child's leg was getting longer.

 Now that person had come to know that the child he was sitting on his shoulder was not an ordinary child but a ghost.

जंगल से बाहर निकलते निकलते उस बच्चे का पैर जमीन पर घिसने लगा था और उसका वजन इतना बढ़ गया था कि उस व्यक्ति से चला भी नहीं जाता था लेकिन वह इतना डर गया था कि उसको समझ में नहीं आ रहा था कि वह क्या करे । पसीने से पूरी तरह भीगा हुवा वह व्यक्ति जैसे तैसे अपने गांव पहुंचा । गांव के बाहर कुछ लोग दिखाई दिये तो उस व्यक्ति में हिम्मत आयी और उस भूत को वहीं एक तालाब जो रास्ते के बगल में ही था उसी में फेक दिया। वहां से हांफ्ते हुए पसीने से लथपथ किसी तरह उन लोगों के पास गया और बेहोस होकर गिर पड़ा ।

While coming out of the forest, the child's feet began to rub on the ground and his weight had increased so much that he could not even walk away from the person, but he was so scared that he did not understand what to do.  The person, completely drenched with sweat, somehow reached his village.  When some people appeared outside the village, that person got courage and threw that ghost in the same pond which was next to the road.  From there, he went some way to those people gasping with sweat and fell unconscious.

गांव के लोगों ने दौड़ कर उसे उठाया और उसके घर ले गये ।

उसके घर वालोंं ने उसका इलाज करवाया तो करीब दो दिन के बाद उस व्यक्ति को होस आया तो उसने अपनी सारी कहानी गांव वालों को बतायी। और सब लोगों को सतर्क रहनें को कहा।

The people of the village ran and picked him up and took him to his house.

 When his family members got him treated, after about two days that person came to his senses, then he told all his story to the villagers.  And asked everyone to be alert.
