श्रवण कुमार के जन्म की कहानी(shravan kumar birth story)

 राजा दशरथ जी जब अयोध्या पर राज कर रहे थे तब उनके ही शासन काल में ही उन्ही के राज्य के एक छोटे से गांव में शांतनु नाम का व्यापारी रहता था।

शांतनु की पत्नी का नाम ज्ञानवती था। दोनों की कोई संतान नहींं थी। इस लिए संतान प्राप्ति के लिए दोनों ने मिलकर भगवान भोलेनाथ की आराधना किया और"ॐ नमः शिवाय।"

मंत्र का जाप करने लगे । कई दिनों तक इसी मंत्र का जाप दोनों करते रहे । इन दोनो की कठोर तपस्या से खुश होकर शंकर भगवान प्रकट होकर इन दोनों से अलग अलग वरदान मांगने को कहा ।जिसके फलस्वरूप शांतनु ने अपने लिए एक पुत्र की मांग कीऔर ज्ञानवती ने एक पुत्री की मांग रखी।

भगवान शंकर ने शांतनु से कहा ठीक है हम तुम्हे पुत्र देंगे जो बहुत ही गुणवान और मातृ पितृ भक्त होगा लेकिन बहुत कम आयु में उसकी मृत्यु हो जाएगी वह अल्पायु का होगा ।

और ज्ञानवती से बोले तुम्हारे लिए हम एक गुणवती और चरित्रवान पुत्री का वरदान दे रहे हैं।

When King Dasharatha was ruling Ayodhya, during his reign, a merchant named Shantanu lived in a small village in his kingdom.

 Shantanu's wife's name was Gyanvati.  Both had no children.  Therefore, both of them worshiped Lord Bholenath together to get children and "Om Namah Shivaya."

 Started chanting the mantra.  Both kept on chanting this mantra for many days.  Pleased with the harsh penance of both of them, Lord Shankar appeared and asked them to ask for different boons.

 As a result of which Shantanu demanded a son for himself and Gyanvati demanded a daughter.

 Lord Shankar said to Shantanu, well we will give you a son who will be very virtuous and maternal and paternal devotee, but he will die at a very young age, he will be of short life.

 And said to Gyanvati, for you we are giving a boon of a virtuous and character daughter.

दोनों को उनकी इच्छा अनुसार वरदान देकर शंकर भगवान वहां से चले गये । कुछ समय बाद दोनों को एक पुत्र और एक पुत्री की प्राप्ति हुई। पुत्र का नाम उन्होंने श्रवण कुमार रखा और पुत्री का नाम ज्ञान वती ने अपने पति शांतनु के नाम से मिलता जुलता नाम शांता रख दिया।

कुछ समय पश्चात किसी कारण वस शांतनु और ज्ञानवति की आंख की रोशनी चली जाती है और वह अंधे हो जाते हैं।

लेकिन उनका पुत्र श्रवण कुमार और पुत्री शांता दोनो अपने माता पिता की सेवा में खुद को पूर्ण समर्पित कर देते हैं और हर प्रकार से उनकी सेवा करते हैं।

Lord Shankar left from there by giving a boon to both of them as per their wish.  After some time both got a son and a daughter.  She named the son Shravan Kumar and the daughter's name as Gyan Vati, resembling the name of her husband Shantanu.

 After some time, due to some reason Vasa Shantanu and Gyanvati lose their sight and become blind.

 But his son Shravan Kumar and daughter Shanta both devote themselves completely to the service of their parents and serve them in every way.
